A lack of information and approachable sources for help and guidance are two of the biggest barriers to keeping people healthy. Our Education Department addresses these challenges and empowers people to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health through medically-accurate and age-appropriate programs, including the Youth Empowerment Program.
Our educational approach is founded on three principles, which our education experts carry out through all of our programming. We believe the best learning and development happens when:
• The bar is raised. Education isn’t just about telling people what they should know, it’s also about explaining how that information fits into a bigger picture and impacts people personally. They should be able to use the information, not just remember it.
• Participants drive the process. Engagement makes learning come alive, which is why our educators strive to create environments where participants can ask for the information that they need, and feel empowered to share their own knowledge and expertise with others.
• Education is available to all. Everyone deserves to have the information they need in order to be healthy and strong as individuals, which is why we embrace an approach and philosophy that aims to bring knowledge to all.
