Planned Parenthood Supporters Gather for Annual Cocktails for a Cause in Austin

Austin, TX — For the sixth year in a row, Austin supporters of Planned Parenthood will gather to show their support and raise funds for essential healthcare and health education services such as breast and cervical cancer screenings, STD testing and treatment, birth control, and more.
Cocktails for a Cause connects younger donors and supporters with Planned Parenthood’s mission to provide reproductive and sexual healthcare and education for Texans who need it, no matter what. Event organizers are highlighting two important messages at the event: Save Our Screenings, to protect Breast and Cervical Cancer Services funding for Planned Parenthood patients, and Love My LARC, an Austin Planned Parenthood program that provides no-cost, long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs such as IUDs and implants) to eligible residents.
“We like to say that we are 80 years old and still talking about sex!” jokes Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas President & CEO Ken Lambrecht. “And it’s true. We have been providing medically accurate, evidence-based healthcare and education since we opened our first health center in Dallas in 1935, followed by Austin in 1937.”
Today Planned Parenthood provides healthcare and health education services to nearly 85,000 Central and North Texans each year. For many patients, Planned Parenthood is their medical home and their only source of healthcare. Statistics show that 1 in 5 women in the U.S. has received services from Planned Parenthood at some time in her life.
