COLUMBUS, OH — LGBT Community Centers are powerful spaces within the neighborhoods they serve, offering assistance accessing social services, mental health counseling, cultural programs, recreational activities, education programs, support groups, elder support, and numerous other vital programs that affect an often underserved and marginalized population in Ohio. During National LGBT Center Awareness Day, Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio (PPGOH) recognizes the dedicated work and commitment of The LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland and its efforts to enrich the lives of the diverse LGBTQ community it serves.

Statement from Brian Lutz, PPGOH Community Health Educator:

“The LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland provides needed services and a safe space for LGBTQ youth and adults in the Greater Cleveland area. Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio has partnered with the LGBT Community Center to provide outreach HIV testing and to facilitate the PPGOH Peer Education Program.

“Our partnership with the LGBT Community Center has allowed for many youth and young adults to get the trusted health care and education they need in a space that is safe, comfortable, and non-judgmental. The LGBT Community Center exemplifies Planned Parenthood’s ‘Care. No Matter What‘ motto.”

Across Ohio, Planned Parenthood is dedicated to serving all Ohioans with the care and compassion they need and deserve. Through health services and education programs, Planned Parenthood reaches thousands of individuals each week, sharing the fact-based, medically accurate information they have come to expect. Planned Parenthood is a proud sponsor of the EquitasHealth Transforming Care Conference in Columbus, OH on October 20 and 21, where staff will be presenting on the topic of LGBTQ Family Planning.
