Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio's Powerful Story Project seeks to reduce the stigma attached to people's reproductive choices through the use of story sharing.
A medium to elevate an individual's voice.
We provide many health services at Planned Parenthood, including abortion care. And we will work tirelessly to prevent stigma from being perpetuated against those accessing safe and legal care.
Stigma is the widely held belief that something is morally wrong or socially unacceptable. For instance, abortion is often stigmatized.
Story sharing helps people understand that others often have to make tough decisions about their reproductive health under difficult circumstances. Sharing our stories helps others see things from a new perspective and build empathy.
As you share your story, please consider this helpful guidance from Exhale about ethical storytelling. This is your story and we want to ensure you are respected throughout the process.
Through House Parties, the Powerful Stories Project brings people together to talk openly about different aspects of their reproductive lives - pregnancy, abortion, miscarriage, post-partum depression, and more - in order to help them find common ground, create a supportive network, and feel more confident talking about their choices.
