According to a CNN poll, 85 percent of Americans consider having sex an important part of Valentine’s Day. It’s so important that more pregnancy tests are sold in March than in any other month of the year. It doesn’t matter how you choose to celebrate Valentine’s Day, just make sure to do it safely with a safer sex kit. Talking with your partner(s) about STIs, getting tested, and using protection are all part of a healthy, empowered sex life.
Planned Parenthood is working with several St. Louis area bars and restaurants to pass out safer sex kits and help address the growing public health crisis. STI rates rose in the U.S. for the fifth consecutive year, with combined cases of gonorrhea, chlamydia and syphilis cases reaching an all-time high in 2018. St. Louis historically ranks high among counties and independent cities for all three STIs. As one of the largest providers of STI testing and treatment in the country, Planned Parenthood is committed to serving all people in our communities with care and respect.
