Votes for Women Happy Hour
We were excited to get back out in the community and engage safely with our supporters! In September, we participated in our first in-person outreach event since the pandemic began. Planned Parenthood teamed up with long-time partner business, Golden Gems and a few new partners (Girl Louie and She Votes) to build awareness for voter engagement. The pop-up happy hour was filled with cheeky, fun home goods and office items for patrons to purchase. While out in front of Golden Gems, we greeted guests with educational pamphlets and fun swag items to help encourage people to vote in the upcoming election.
Volunteer of the Month: Sarah
Each month, we highlight one of our outstanding Planned Parenthood volunteers. October’s Volunteer of the Month is Sarah! Following our watch party of All In: The Fight for Democracy, Sarah sent 80 text messages using Outvote and encouraged friends and family to check their voter registration! It's never too late to get involved!
Q: Why is it important for you to volunteer with Planned Parenthood?
A: I was compelled to volunteer ahead of the election. So much is at stake, especially health care. We’re not just voting for a candidate, but for every decision he’ll make concerning the economy, climate, healthcare, etc. Far too many stayed home and didn’t vote in 2016. I’ve been interested in volunteering for a while now and this felt like the right time and opportunity to get involved with Planned Parenthood.
Q: Do you have a favorite experience so far with Planned Parenthood?
A: This was my first experience volunteering with Planned Parenthood. My outreach with voter registration led to conversations with a few people I hadn’t connected with in a while, which I really enjoyed. This experience came just after RBG’s passing, and she was a champion for so many, so it’s the very least I could do.
Q: What else would you like to share about what being a Planned Parenthood supporter and volunteer means to you?
A: For me, it’s an opportunity to share all of the services provided at Planned Parenthood with those who aren’t familiar or have a singular view of what Planned Parenthood does. This was my first experience volunteering and I look forward to more.
