In honor of Pride month, we talked with LGBTQ+-owned Brands Against Bans partner Own Your Pride at Ozarks Pridefest. Own Your Pride has been an amazing supporter of sexual and reproductive health and rights in the Springfield community. Inspired by our work to provide gender-affirming care through the TRANSforming Community, TRANSforming Care program, owner Aaron designed a new Planned Parenthood button collection and is donating part of the proceeds to Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri. The buttons sold out at this year’s Pridefest, but you can purchase them on Own Your Pride's online store. Learn more about why Aaron is so passionate about supporting our mission below.
How would you describe Own Your Pride?
“Own Your Pride is a queer-owned LGBTQ+ pride and social justice pop-up and online shop that celebrates the vibrant diversity and advocates for equality within the community. We sell more than 30 varieties of Pride flags plus stickers, buttons, pins, apparel, and more!”
Why do you support Planned Parenthood?
“I support Planned Parenthood because it champions reproductive justice for all, ensuring that individuals have access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare, regardless of their socioeconomic background, sexual orientation or gender identity. Additionally, Planned Parenthood's commitment to providing gender-affirming care is crucial in promoting inclusivity and supporting the health and well-being of transgender and non-binary individuals, helping them access the vital services they need in a safe and supportive environment.”
Why is the fight for sexual and reproductive health and rights important to you?
“The fight for sexual and reproductive health and rights is important to me because it recognizes the fundamental human rights of individuals to make informed decisions about their own bodies, sexuality, and reproductive choices. It empowers people to have autonomy over their health and ensures access to comprehensive healthcare services, including contraception, abortion, and sexually transmitted infection prevention and treatment, promoting overall well-being and equality for all.”
