Legal Challenges Filed to Block Two Extreme Oklahoma Abortion Bans

Today, a coalition of Oklahoma abortion providers and a reproductive justice organization filed two separate challenges in state court to block two different abortion bans passed during the 2022 state legislative session.

Planned Parenthood Sues Gov. Parson for Unlawful Defunding, Launches Petition Urging Biden Administration to Act

Today, Planned Parenthood Great Plains (PPGP) and Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri (PPSLRSWMO) filed a lawsuit in state court against the Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) for refusing to reimburse care provided to Missouri patients through the Medicaid program. The DSS decision takes effect at the end of day Friday, March 11.

Planned Parenthood Great Plains on Missouri “Defunding” its Health Centers from Medicaid Program, Blocking Access to Life-Saving Care

Hours after passing the state legislature, Governor Mike Parson signed a supplemental budget bill that included language to “defund” Planned Parenthood from participating in Missouri’s Medicaid program, which encompasses Planned Parenthood Great Plains (PPGP) health centers in Columbia, Kansas City, Independence, and Gladstone.

Planned Parenthood Great Plains Reopens New, Permanent Health Center in Edmond; Increases Access to Family Planning Services

Planned Parenthood Great Plains (PPGP) announced the reopening of its Edmond Health Center in a new, permanent location – 1601 South Boulevard. The health center started taking telehealth appointments last month, and now patients can receive in-person care for family planning, reproductive and sexual health, and primary care needs.

Court Refuses to Block New Abortion Restrictions in Oklahoma

Today, a state court judge in Oklahoma ruled from the bench and denied in part a request for a temporary injunction against several extreme abortion restrictions that will decimate access to abortion across the state and region. The laws — which were all challenged as part of the same lawsuit — are scheduled to take effect on November 1. The plaintiffs will now be seeking emergency relief from the Oklahoma Supreme Court in an attempt to block the remaining restrictions before they can take effect.
