LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS – Planned Parenthood Great Plains is proud to announce we will be opening a new Little Rock Health Center in August. The new center is state-of-the-art and conveniently located at 1501 Aldersgate Rd. to enhance access to patient care.

Planned Parenthood Great Plains has been searching for a larger location to meet growing patient demand and to address a lack of access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care within the area.

“By opening this new location, we are expanding our commitment to Arkansas,” said Dr. Brandon J. Hill, Planned Parenthood Great Plains President and CEO. “This new space will reflect the high-quality care our patients receive each day, as well as meet the long-term needs of our devoted staff, helping Planned Parenthood serve this community for years to come. This opportunity comes at a time of increasing hostility toward reproductive rights playing out across the country. At a local level, the new health center allows us to continue to address disparities in access to sexual and reproductive health care and contribute to improving public health in Arkansas. We will also have space to expand our sex education, advocacy, and outreach work, which is essential to delivering on our mission.”

Planned Parenthood Great Plains provides over 6,500 patient visits each year at its two Arkansas health centers.

“Arkansas is no stranger to barriers to comprehensive health care and sex education, so this is a great opportunity for Planned Parenthood to continue serving the health care needs of this community by providing the care Arkansans truly cannot go without,” said Dr. Janet Cathey, Planned Parenthood Great Plains Director of Transgender Care and Little Rock physician. “We see what happens to a state when the rights to health care are chipped away — Arkansans face some of the nation’s highest maternal and infant mortality rates, as well as high teen birth rates. We’re thrilled to move into this space, reaffirming our commitment to our patients and the Little Rock community.”

Health services at our current Little Rock location (5921 W. 12th St.) will continue until further notice. In August, family planning patients will start to transition to our new location. Planned Parenthood Great Plains has served the Little Rock community at our current location for several years and has outgrown the space as our patient population continues to increase.

Planned Parenthood Great Plains’ other Arkansas health center is also preparing for a move. Our Fayetteville Health Center (3729 N. Crossover Rd. Suite 107) will close at the end of July as we get ready to relocate.

“Planned Parenthood Great Plains will be reopening our Northwest Arkansas Health Center in a new location in the coming months,” Hill said. “We chose to leave our current location following challenges that posed concerns for the safety of our patients and staff. We are no strangers to pressure from politicians and individuals who want to stand in the way of our ability to provide comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care. Ultimately, in this instance, we had reached an impasse. We chose to seek an alternative location that would meet our high standards for safety and ensure we can continue to provide the comprehensive care our patients need and deserve. Make no mistake: We remain committed to providing care in Northwest Arkansas, and we are working swiftly to ensure we reopen our doors as soon as possible.”

The last day patients will be seen at our current Fayetteville location will be July 25, 2019. We are working to notify patients and ensure they can access care from alternative providers while we are closed. Planned Parenthood Great Plains staff are working diligently to relocate our health center and reopen as quickly as possible so we can resume the full range of services our patients depend on us for.
