Honolulu Hale Turns Pink in Celebration of Planned Parenthood’s 100th Anniversary 

HONOLULU — On October 16, Planned Parenthood will celebrate its 100th anniversary, and as part of the celebration, during the week of October 10, Honolulu Hale will turn pink in commemoration of Planned Parenthood’s centennial and Planned Parenthood’s care and activism in Hawaii for the past 50 years. 

To kick off the celebration, Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell will be presenting a message of support for Planned Parenthood on October 10 at Honolulu Hale. 

“For 100 years, Planned Parenthood health centers have provided essential health care. Since day one, Planned Parenthood has believed everyone deserves access to basic health care and sexual health information – and has defiantly fought to ensure no one can take that away,” said Laurie Field, Hawaii Legislative Director and Public Affairs Manager, Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest and Hawaii (PPVNH).  

Across the country Planned Parenthood continues to be under attack from legislators who want to close Planned Parenthood health centers and pursue more ways to restrict women from getting access to basic health care. 

“Here in the City and County of Honolulu and far-flung corners of the globe, Planned Parenthood is a force for good that contributes to the reproductive health and well-being of millions of women who would otherwise have nowhere to turn. I want to thank Planned Parenthood for its commitment to protecting the rights of women everywhere, and being an unparalleled leader for reproductive self-determination,” said Kirk Caldwell, mayor of Honolulu in a letter of support for Planned Parenthood. 

Planned Parenthood looks forward to its next 100 years working alongside leaders like Caldwell to protect and promote reproductive rights for women in Hawaii and across the country.
