For over 30 years, Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and the Hawaiian Islands has presented workshops for parents and their 9 to 12 year-old children. Specifically designed to enhance family communication about sexuality, the program guides parents and youth through activities that stimulate conversation, clarify family values, establish rules and provide accurate information about the physical and emotional changes of puberty. The curriculum package consists of a facilitator handbook with facilitator training procedures, standard workshop agenda with specific goals and detailed activity descriptions for each activity as well as samples of handouts used.
