Dear friends,

On Friday, September 18, the world lost an extraordinary woman who fought for all of us on thousands of fronts. US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a stalwart champion of equal rights, who stood up fearlessly and tirelessly – even in dissent – for equality and freedom.

As a Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsberg defended people of color, worker’s rights, voting rights, LGBTQ rights, and so much more. She was a defender of women, and steadfastly sided with justice. I will miss her greatly – many of us will.

Thank you, Justice Ginsberg, for everything.

Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell – less than 24 hours after Justice Ginsberg's passing – made it clear that he intends to ram a Trump appointee through the Court either before the election, or between Election Day (Tuesday, November 3) and Inauguration Day (January 20).

The Trump administrations potential nominees only include openly Republican anti-choice zealots. There are 17 cases ready to be taken by the Supreme Court to undermine the Roe v. Wade decision - aimed at chipping away, and outright gutting access to abortion. I for one, can’t stand by and do nothing – to much is at stake.

Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska has stated she is unwilling to vote on a nominee before the election.

I will be updating you regularly as things change, but for now, abortion remains legal in all 50 states. Your community Planned Parenthood health centers are open and operating at full speed.

Please know that I will do all I can to fight to keep reproductive health care access, including abortion, available and accessible, safe and legal. I hope that in critical months ahead, we can all be a little more like RBG and continue to rise in dissent against bigotry and discrimination.

Keep heart. This is far from over.

In her memory,
Chris
