In 2021, the PPGNHAIK Education department continued to create high quality, inclusive sex education programming and reach youth, their families and communities while making a positive impact across the country.
The Planned Parenthood education team has created many award-winning sex ed curriculums – one of the most successful has been LiFT, which stands for Linking Families and Teens. LiFT’s goal is to reduce unplanned pregnancies by increasing family connectedness and youth self-efficacy. The course covers a variety of topics ranging from condom use to communication skills.
The Anchorage Teen Council recently placed runner-up to the Humanitarian Spirit of Youth Award. The award was given in recognition of Teen Council’s outreach and education work for the LGBTQ community.
Planned Parenthood’s education programs are most often associated with the sex ed classes offered to teens and young adults. However, Planned Parenthood offers education for adults as well. In Indiana, Planned Parenthood has expanded sex education programs to reach incarcerated women.
