$2 Million for Education Endowment

Care:

We believe sex education is a human right.

Planned Parenthood is the leading provider of sex education. Our programming reaches teens and families with medically accurate, orientation-inclusive and age-appropriate information to help them make informed decisions. We know our education models work.

However, many politicians are intent on blocking access to sex education. Abstinence-only education is now the priority for federal funding, despite consistent evidence that it is ineffective.

Local public schools are mandated to provide sex education, but budget constraints and public discomfort often get in the way. Each year, PPCW invests $1 million in our core programs to reach more than 14,000 students. These programs are offered free of charge. A designated endowment will sustain this critical programming.

Build:

By providing education to build healthy and responsible citizens, PPCW is creating the kind of world we all want to live in: compassionate, equitable, informed, and just. To ensure future funding of our education program, our board has established an Education Endowment at the Oregon Community Foundation.
Earnings from this endowment will be released each year to directly support education, and the endowment will grow over time.

Change:

We are dedicated to eliminating the disparities in sex education by reaching as many people as possible through diverse and proven programming. Consistent funding from an endowment will create a stable financial foundation for our mission-driven programs.

Sex education changes lives; hearts and minds are opened with education that supports healthy relationships, promotes sexual and reproductive health, affirms diversity in  sexual orientation and gender identities, and provides knowledge to make decisions about if and when to have children.

Sex education changes communities; informed people lead our movement and serve as models for others around the country, thus strengthening our communities.

Sex education changes our world; through our strengthened communities, we can realize the world we all want to live in.
