The Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette (PPCW) is pleased to announce that Dr. Anne Udall will be the organization's next President and CEO. She served PPCW in an interim capacity since August 2017.
"The Board of Directors has been impressed with Anne's strategic insight, pragmatic approach and deep commitment to PPCW," says Sita Symonette, Board Chair of PPCW. "We have had the pleasure of observing her considerable skills and talents, and we are confident that she is the best person to lead PPCW as we embrace the opportunities and navigate the challenges ahead."
Udall has more than 20 years of experience in executive leadership and management in nonprofit and education settings. She previously served as Chief Strategy Officer at the New Teacher Project in Santa Cruz, Calif., where she led the development and implementation of a four-year strategic plan, coordinated efforts with key national funders, and advanced equity and inclusion initiatives. Prior to moving to Santa Cruz, Udall lived in Portland and is excited to be back in the state she calls home.
"Now more than ever, I strongly believe that all people deserve high-quality, affordable health care and compassionate, nonjudgmental sexual health information, no matter who they are or where they live," Udall says. "At this critical time, I'm looking forward to helping PPCW advance efforts to expand services and drive innovations in health care."
Udall is responsible for the operation and management of seven health centers in Oregon and Southwest Washington serving more than 58,000 patients annually and an education department that reaches more than 8,000 young people annually. During her interim leadership, PPCW has intensified efforts to enhance services for patients:
- Launched a telemedicine program to create greater access to medical abortion appointments when availability is limited in certain health centers.
- Expanded critical HIV prevention and education efforts by offering pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) at all health centers.
- Upgraded health centers in Bend and Beaverton.
- Significantly increased the PPCW donor base, including a major $1 million gift from the Henry, Juliet and Summer Hillman Foundations to help fund a new, state-of-the-art health center in East Portland.
