The New York State Reproductive Health Act was signed into law in January 2019 but it still remains controversial.
Supporters of the new law cheered it as a milestone moment for women's healthcare because it updated NYS's abortion laws, allowed more providers to perform abortions, and put the abortion decision into the hands of the woman and her doctor.
"One of the things this did is recognize that abortion is healthcare and not a crime," said Debora McDell-Hernandez from Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York.

RESTORE representative brings Title IX advocacy to schools

Julia DeLuca, a RESTORE advocate and K-12 education specialist, is the new Title IX advocate for the GLOW region and Monroe County.
As an advocate, DeLuca goes into schools and talks to administration about how they handle cases of sexual assault and sexual misconduct in their schools.

This means that a large population of teens aren't able to access the safest and most effective birth control available.

Vertical gardens pop up in Niagara Falls to promote healthy eating, access to fresh produce

The Tower Gardens are also popping up in senior and community centers in Niagara Falls, and at libraries. Most recently, they added a vertical garden to The Connection, a youth center on Main Street.
The Connection's chef uses the greens and other veggies grown in the healthy meals the center serves to kids each day.
