Truth B Told By Planned Parenthood S.T.A.R.S.
On Saturday, July 24, Planned Parenthood proudly presented “Truth B Told” by the Students Talking About Responsible Sexuality (S.T.A.R.S) at the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center (NACC), Niagara Falls. “Truth B Told” is an honest portrayal of the complicated relationship between teens and technology. “Truth B Told” follows the story of a teen girl victimized by “textual harassment” and “sexting.”
“Owning a cell phone is common place for teens today but many parents are unaware of the trouble young people can find themselves in when they not properly monitored. Our goal is show parents and teens the consequence of ‘sexting’,” said Samika Sullivan, Niagara County Community-Based Pregnancy Prevention Coordinator for Planned Parenthood of Western New York.
S.T.A.R.S. is an elite troupe of students from Niagara Falls High School, who write and perform throughout the community. The students develop plays, short skits and interactive role plays based on real life issues. The goal is to provide accurate and factual information to their peers and the community.
Planned Parenthood of Western New York provides high-quality, affordable, confidential and accessible reproductive health care services. Their mission is to empower all people to make informed reproductive health choices, and advocate for sexuality education and access to quality health care.
