What is Planned Parenthood?

Planned Parenthood Arizona is a nonprofit organization that offers a wide range of reproductive health services. In the community for 80 years, our health centers are comfortable places for honest information and compassionate care. We proudly serve women, men and teens with the following services: life-saving cancer screenings, annual reproductive exams, pregnancy testing, birth control, emergency contraception, vaccinations, testing and treatment for Sexually Transmitted Diseases, abortion care, as well as other basic preventive health care.

Our friendly, experienced medical staff are experts at providing patients with open and honest information to help them make the reproductive decisions that are best for them. We educate our patients so they can be good advocates of their own health care.

What services does Planned Parenthood offer?

We proudly serve women, men and teens with the following services:

  • Reproductive exams

  • Testing and treatment for STDs/STIs
  • Cancer screenings

How old do you have to be to go into Planned Parenthood by yourself to get any type of service? (condoms, pregnancy test, birth control, STD testing, etc.)

Teens do not need parental consent to receive birth control and birth control consultation (including condoms), STD testing, or pregnancy testing. But, we do encourage teens to discuss these important sexual health decisions with their parents.

What is the protocol for minors seeking an abortion?

Find information about minors and Arizona's laws visit our page: Minors & Abortion Law.

Do you have a basic list of fee-for-service costs for things like birth control, exams, vaccines, and abortion services?

Pricing will vary depending on the service, if a patient is covered by insurance, if the patient does not have insurance and is paying out of pocket, etc.

We accept most major health insurance plans, including Cigna, United, Aetna and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Patients paying for their services out-of-pocket, without using funding programs or their insurance, qualify for a discount on most services.

What is the agency's code of ethics regarding privacy and confidentiality, especially when concerning minors?

At Planned Parenthood Arizona, our patients' health and safety is of paramount importance. As a licensed health care provider, we adhere to HIPAA best practices and fully abide by all of the laws and guidelines set by the state, Arizona Department of Health Services, and licensing board to provide the utmost in confidentiality and privacy, as any other health care provider would. Minors are afforded the same confidentiality as adults; however, if a minor patient discloses to us they have been abused, neglected, or are sexually active within the reportable age range as defined by the ARS, as a health care provider, we are required to report the abuse to the local authorities.

How many people who come to Planned Parenthood have private insurance?

We do serve individuals with private insurance, however the majority of our patients are uninsured or underinsured so therefore they pay for their services out of their own pockets. For this reason, we ensure our pricing is affordable, while providing the highest quality care.
