FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
TUCSON - Planned Parenthood Arizona is grateful and excited to announce a significant donation that will enable the organization to redevelop its southern Arizona headquarters and better serve the organization's mission. Leading Tucson philanthropist Bonnie Kay has donated $100,000 and committed further funds to finance the project.
The future health and well-being of Arizona women and families is going to hinge on leaders and activists in healthcare, education and public policy coming together to find forward-looking solutions. Our state faces serious challenges involving unintended pregnancy, discrimination on the basis of race, sexual orientation and gender identity, income inequality, barriers to healthcare, and political threats to public education. Planned Parenthood is increasingly a convener and participating leader in coalitions working for an Arizona that is more fair, equitable and inclusive.
Our organization is fortunate to have benefited for years from the farsighted and courageous leadership of Bonnie Kay. As Planned Parenthood discussed our growing work in coalition-building and community organizing, Bonnie understood the need for Planned Parenthood to have a headquarters with state of the art meeting facilities to support community engagement in southern Arizona.
Thanks to Bonnie's generosity, Planned Parenthood has engaged the highly regarded firm of CDG Architects - led by principals Frank Mascia and Cindy Hogan - to develop the project. CDG was responsible for the design of the facility when Planned Parenthood opened it 14 years ago.
Collaboration across progressive causes and inclusion of diverse voices is the most important key to a healthier, more prosperous and more just Arizona. Planned Parenthood is enormously grateful to Bonnie Kay for helping our organization play an ever more effective role.
