TUCSON, ARIZONA – Today Planned Parenthood Arizona is launching vasectomy services at the Southern Arizona Regional Health Center in Tucson. The decision comes after a spike in requests for vasectomy services from patients over the past eight months. In states where vasectomy is already offered, Planned Parenthood has seen a 40 percent increase in vasectomies performed since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the constitutional federal right to abortion.

“This is a very exciting day here in Arizona for reproductive health care,” said Dr. Jill Gibson, Medical Director at Planned Parenthood Arizona. “Launching this new vasectomy service line is a direct response to what our community has been asking for. Since the U.S. Supreme Court’s devastating and cruel Dobbs decision, Arizonans have a real fear about having control over their bodies and their lives, and we’re seeing a lot of people with penises wanting to have a more active role in family planning and the prevention of unintended pregnancies.”

Planned Parenthood Arizona’s vasectomy services are a simple, safe, and effective form of permanent birth control that helps reduce uncertainty amid a constant lack of clarity and worries about the future of abortion rights and access in Arizona. The vasectomy services offered in Tucson are the first in Planned Parenthood Arizona’s recent history and plans are in the works to expand these services to Planned Parenthood’s additional health centers in the state, including in the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Planned Parenthood Arizona is now accepting patients for vasectomy services in Tucson at our Southern Arizona Regional Health Center. To schedule an appointment, patients can call 1-602-277-7526.
