FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TUCSON-- Planned Parenthood Arizona is expanding the availability of affordable preventive health care in Tucson.

In partnership with Arizona Family Planning Council, beginning September 1, Planned Parenthood’s Hoffman Health Center will be adding more sliding-fee appointments for those patients who may not be able to afford the full cost of their health care. The health center, located near Tucson Mall at 529 W. Wetmore Road, is also adding evening and weekend hours.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Arizona Family Planning Council at another one of our health centers in order to reach more individuals with care,” says Bryan Howard, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Arizona.

Planned Parenthood Arizona provides its core prevention care of life-saving cancer screenings, STD testing and treatment, a full range of birth control and annual gynecological exams at the Hoffman Health Center.

In order to staff the additional hours to make expanded evening and weekend appointments available, Planned Parenthood will be closing its health center at the City of Tucson Archer Community Center, located on La Cholla Blvd. Patients who are served at the health center have been notified that the last day of services at Archer Community Center are August 29 and that they can continue their care at Hoffman Health Center.

“Planned Parenthood is grateful for our long-standing partnership with the City of Tucson that has enabled us to offer health care out of the Archer Community Center, “ says Howard. “Through members of the City Council and city management we have been fortunate to work with public leaders who recognize the importance of life-saving prevention services in helping women and families to have healthy self-sufficient lives.”

The Hoffman Health Center is located approximately nine miles from the Archer Community Center. For patient convenience, the health center is on bus route 16/Thornydale at the Oracle and Wetmore stop.
