LOS ANGELES– Sue Dunlap has been appointed President & Chief Executive Officer of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles. In this position, she will head the largest, non-profit reproductive health care organization in Los Angeles County.

"Sue has a long history of leadership in the Planned Parenthood family – from her start with the San Diego affiliate thirteen years ago, to her work managing advocacy efforts at the state and federal level, then as the Vice President of External Affairs here in Los Angeles and, most recently, as our interim co-CEO," said Allan Mutchnik, Chair of the Board of Directors. "She brings extraordinary intellect, diligence, and dedication to the challenges and opportunities ahead for Planned Parenthood. We are delighted that she will lead the education, health care and advocacy efforts that make Planned Parenthood a vital resource for our community."

Planned Parenthood Los Angeles provides care to more than 120,000 women, men and teens each year, including life-saving cancer screenings, well-woman exams, sexually transmitted disease testing and treatment, and birth control. The organization reaches more than 72,000 teens and adults through its school and community-based education programs.

Ms. Dunlap has served as Interim Co-CEO of Planned Parenthood Los Angeles since June 2010. Prior to serving as Co-CEO, Ms. Dunlap was the Vice President for External Affairs at Planned Parenthood Los Angeles, managing the agency’s public affairs, marketing and communications efforts. Before moving to Los Angeles in 2006, Ms. Dunlap served as the Deputy Political Director of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund in Washington D.C., and the Vice President of Public Policy for Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California in Sacramento.

"I'm so honored by this opportunity to serve as Planned Parenthood Los Angeles’ next President and CEO, particularly in this historic moment," said Ms. Dunlap. "Los Angeles has such a large and diverse community—albeit one where far too many are uninsured and have no where to turn for the care they need to stay healthy. I am excited to work with our staff, Board and supporters to take on the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in ensuring that all individuals have access to basic health care and medically-accurate education."
