What could be causing my vagina to itch and a burning sensation when I urinate?

Painful urination and genital itching may be symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection, such as chlamydia or gonorrhea. Chlamydia and gonorrhea are both easily treatable. Itching and burning of the vulva or vagina could also be the result of vaginitis, a common irritation that can be cause by a yeast infection. Only a health care provider can tell you for sure what could be causing these symptoms. Your local Planned Parenthood health center, many other clinics, and private health care providers offer tests and treatment for vaginitis and sexually transmitted infections.
