I have not had a period for 4 months. I am 15 years old and I'm not sexually active, under/over weight, or on birth control. Because of social distancing, I can't go to the doctor right now. Is this irregular?

It’s normal for teens to miss a period, or even go a few months without one like you have. Your body is still growing and adjusting, and your hormones are still figuring their thing out.

Since you haven’t had sex, you also don’t have to worry that your delayed or missed period is because you’re pregnant. If you’re worried that you might be pregnant because you did have sex at some point, that’s another story. In that case, the only way to know for sure if you’re pregnant is by taking a pregnancy test. You can buy a test from lots of places — the drugstore, the grocery store, convenience stores, and you can also order a pregnancy test online.

You can also download our Spot On period tracker app, which helps you keep track of when you get your period and helps you figure out when it could be time to check in with a nurse or doctor about your health. And you can also schedule an online visit with a Planned Parenthood health center to talk about your period or any other questions you may have.
