Hello, I am a 15 year old male and I am wondering as to how much of a bend in my penis is normal. I slept belly down until 7th grade, and I am wondering if this perhaps caused the bend. When erect, my penis curves downward, so instead of being straight, it points downward. Is this normal and what, if anything, can I do?

A bend in your penis when you have an erection, or at all, is totally normal. Like most body parts, penises aren’t always perfectly straight and symmetrical (meaning both sides look the same). Penises come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.

Usually a penis that bends in one direction is nothing to worry about, and it isn’t something you can change. But if a bend in your penis is new and if it causes any pain, it’s a good idea to get it checked out. Peyronie’s Disease is a rare condition in which scar tissue resulting from an injury builds up and causes changes in your penis. If you’re worried, talk with your doctor or nurse or the staff at your nearest Planned Parenthood health center.
