If I was looking to get an IUD that lasts 5 years, and I am currently 17 years old, how much will it cost me in total for the process? Including the examination with the doctor? I would not be using an insurance company.

Getting a long-acting method of birth control like the IUD is an awesome decision. It’s convenient, easy, and very, very good at preventing pregnancy. So here’s to you!

Without using insurance, IUDs can be rather expensive, though. The cost can range between $500-$1,000. The good news is that lots of Planned Parenthood health centers offer programs to make it more affordable for people who don’t have or can’t use insurance. Speak with the staff at your nearest Planned Parenthood health center to find out about programs in your area.
