I’m not sure if I lost my virginity? I’m 17 and don’t remember if I had sex or not at a party. I’m not pregnant but would like to know if I’m still a virgin & if there’s anything I can do without parent consent?

There’s no test that a doctor can do to tell if you’re a virgin or not because virginity means different things to different people. But if you think someone may have done something sexual to you when you were drunk, high, or sleeping, that’s not okay, and it’s a good idea to visit a doctor or nurse as soon as you can. They can make sure you’re not pregnant, test for STDs and talk about any other next steps you should take.

I know it can be hard to talk about, but there are some doctors and nurses who are specially trained to respond to someone when something like this happens, and it’s important that you get the care you need. In general, you don’t need a parent’s permission to do that. RAINN can help you find somewhere to go in your area. Your nearest Planned Parenthood health center can also connect you with resources in your area. Speaking with someone in person is a good next step.
