My ex-boyfriend thinks he has an std and that I gave it to him. He says he has the symptoms for gonorrhea and chlamydia. I don’t have any symptoms though. What should I do?
There’s no way for us to tell if your boyfriend has an infection, and if so, if he got it from you or someone else.
Many women and men have sexually transmitted infections but have no symptoms. That’s why it’s important for people who’ve had unprotected sex to talk to their clinicians about getting tested for infections, even if they have no symptoms.
Casting blame does not help. What would help is for both of you to get tested if either of you thinks you have symptoms. Chlamydia and gonorrhea are easily treated, but left untreated, they can lead to infertility and other conditions, like arthritis, in women and men.
Contact your local Planned Parenthood health center to make an appointment for testing.
