I was wondering if I could get some advice on how to go about asking my mother to go on birth control. Im not quiet sure on how to approach her about going on it. HELP!
Talking to your parents about birth control and sex can be a difficult conversation at any age, but there are lots of reasons it may still be a conversation worth having. Many parents have excellent advice to offer their children about sex, sexual health, and contraception. It may take more than one conversation about this issue before you feel comfortable disclosing information about your personal feelings and intentions to use birth control.
Many teens find it intimidating or embarrassing to talk with their parents about birth control. When you’re ready to bring it up, you could try using a magazine article or TV show as a jumping-off point to start a conversation about sex and using birth control. Or you might want to start by talking about a friend who’s decided to use birth control and see how your parents react. If you feel really embarrassed, you may want to rehearse what you want to say in front of a mirror with a friend.
