If I got molluscum contagiosum from my partner does it mean that he cheated on me?

It’s possible, but it’s also possible that you or your partner had it before you met. Symptoms usually appear between two and 12 weeks after infection — but it can take years.

Molluscum contagiosum is a virus that can be transmitted through sexual and other forms of non-sexual intimate contact. It can be spread through vaginal, oral, and anal sex. Condoms reduce the risk of transmission, but it’s possible for the virus to be transmitted to and from areas that condoms don’t cover.

Symptoms of molluscum contagiosum include small, pinkish-white, waxy, round, polyp-like growths in the genital area or on the thighs. There is often a tiny depression in the middle of the growth. A health care provider can diagnose and remove these growths with chemicals, electrical current, or freezing.
