I just got my second shot for birth control, do i have to wait a week again to have unprotected sex?
If you got your second shot on time, it will start working right away — so there’s no need to wait to have sex. You only have to wait the week after your first birth control shot. As long as you get your shots on time (every 12-13 weeks), you’ll always be protected.
If you were 2 or more weeks late getting your last shot, it’s a good idea to wait to have sex or use a backup method like condoms for the first week. And if you also want to help prevent the spread of STDs, using a condom along with the birth control shot is a great idea.
