Someone asked us: Do real doctors work at planned parenthood? Does planned parenthood have obgyns?
Yes! Real doctors and nurses — including obstetrician-gynecologists (OB/GYNs) — work at Planned Parenthood.
There are 600 Planned Parenthood health centers in 49 states. All of the staff at these health centers are trained, licensed medical professionals — just like at any other doctor’s office.
Staff at health centers range from nurses, general practitioners, and OB/GYNs, to counselors, sex educators, and more. This means people may visit our health centers for all sorts of reasons. You can come to Planned Parenthood for routine checkups and wellness exams, or for something more specific, like:
- Birth control
- STD testing, treatment, and the HPV vaccine
- Cancer screenings (like breast exams, HPV/Pap tests, and testicular and prostate exams)
- Transgender hormone therapy
- HIV services
- Abortion services
Some of these services are available at every Planned Parenthood health center, while others are available only in certain locations. You can contact your local Planned Parenthood health center to find out where you can get the service you’re looking for in your area.
