If you’ve tested positive for hepatitis B, you can’t donate blood. Even if you’ve never had any symptoms.

If you have any symptoms of hepatitis B, it’s important to make an appointment with a doctor or nurse for testing. Hepatitis B usually will go away by itself, but it could become chronic and seriously damage your liver.

You can get tested and treated for hepatitis B and other STDs at your doctor’s office, community health clinic, the health department, or your local Planned Parenthood health center.
