Can gonorrhea be cured?

Yes – gonorrhea can be cured with the right medicine (antibiotics). It’s important to take all of the medicine your doctor or nurse gives you to make sure the infection gets fully treated.

/404-page-not-found/If you get diagnosed with gonorrhea, tell anyone you’ve had oral, anal, or vaginal sex with in the last few months. This way you’ll all get gonorrhea treatment and avoid serious problems. And wait to have sex until you finish your treatment.

While gonorrhea is curable right now, it’s getting harder to treat, and the medicine doesn’t always work. If your symptoms (if you had symptoms) continue for more than a few days after starting treatment, check in with your doctor or nurse or your local Planned Parenthood health center right away.  It’s also important to get tested again in 3 months to make sure it’s gone.
