No. Drinking a shot of lemon juice won’t delay your period or make it stop.
Using a hormonal birth control method is the only way to lighten or control when you get your period:
When taking a hormonal birth control method, like the pill, ring, and patch, you have the ability to skip your period. It’s safe and super easy. You can do this by skipping the hormone-free week and jump right to the next pack, ring, or patch. You can do this every month, or just whenever you want to skip your period.
Using hormonal birth control methods like IUDs (Mirena, Kyleena, Liletta, and Skyla), the birth control implant (Nexplanon), pill, ring and patch may make your period lighter. Some people stop getting their periods at all while using one of these methods. These birth control methods can also help treat severe cramps, acne, heavy periods, and anemia.
The birth control shot also may make your period lighter. Half of people who use the shot stop getting their periods at all. However, that usually happens after about a year of using the method.
Birth control also provides other benefits, like preventing unplanned pregnancy, PMS (premenstrual syndrome, cysts in your breasts and ovaries, endometrial and ovarian cancers, and serious infections in your ovaries or fallopian tubes. You can make an appointment with your nurse, doctor, or your local Planned Parenthood health center to find a birth control method that’s right for you.
