What is Planned Parenthood Federation of America? How is it different from Planned Parenthood Action Fund?

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) works to support health care providers at Planned Parenthood health centers across the country, educate the public on issues of reproductive and sexual health, and advocate for policy to expand access to health care. PPFA is a 501(c)(3) organization, and donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable under the law.

Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood, fighting to advance and expand access to sexual health care and defend reproductive rights. PPAF is a 501(c)(4) organization, and donations are not tax-deductible as a charitable contribution or business expense.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Can I donate to my local affiliate or health center?

Yes. Planned Parenthood affiliates run your local health centers. To donate to a local affiliate online, choose the affiliate organization that you would like to support on our Specific Giving donation form.

Will I receive a tax receipt?

Yes, we provide a tax receipt for all tax-deductible donations over $5. If you do not receive your tax receipt or your misplace it, please contact us here or 1 (800) 430-4907.

Yes, you can donate in honor or in memory of someone. Planned Parenthood will send a card in the mail to the address you specified. Please be aware that it can take up to four weeks for the card to arrive. We are unable to send email notifications or send anonymous honorary notifications.

How can I raise money in my community to support Planned Parenthood?

You can fundraise for Planned Parenthood online by creating your own personal page and sharing it with friends and family on Crowdrise.com. Supporters have created peer-to-peer fundraisers for events like weddings, birthdays, runs and just because!

Can I use your name and/or logo for a fundraising event?

You are welcome to state that proceeds from an event will benefit Planned Parenthood, but we are unable to authorize the use of our logo.

I received a call from someone claiming to be from Planned Parenthood. Is this legitimate?

Planned Parenthood does solicit donations via phone, but if you are concerned about a call you received, please contact us here or 1 (800) 430-4907 and we will verify.

I made a donation online, but didn’t receive an email receipt. Can you send me a new one?

Does Planned Parenthood accept donations from rollover IRAs?

Yes; Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is eligible for qualified charitable distributions (QCD) through the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act of 2015. Your gift will count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year in which the check is issued and is excluded from your taxable income.

What are the legal requirements for directing a rollover IRA to PPFA?

The minimum age requirement for a rollover IRA is 70 1/2. The maximum donation amount in one year cannot exceed $100,000. Also, IRA donations must be submitted directly from your financial institution.

What information do I need to provide my financial institution to donate from my rollover IRA?

When making an IRA contribution, please provide your broker with PPFA's address and Tax ID:

We strongly recommend you instruct your broker to include your name and address with the check. In order to donate your IRA rollover to a local Planned Parenthood affiliate, please provide the mailing address and Tax ID # of your local administrative office.
