Abortion Care

There are two ways of ending a pregnancy: in-clinic abortion and the abortion pill. Both are safe and very common. If you’re pregnant and thinking about abortion, you may have lots of questions. We’re here to help.

Procedural Abortion: In-clinic abortions are safe, simple medical procedures provided by doctors and nurses at a health center.

The Abortion Pill: The abortion pill works up to 11 weeks of pregnancy. You can usually have your abortion in the privacy of your own home.

Preparing for Your Abortion Visit

We are committed to providing care, no matter what. As part of your appointment, you will speak with a health professional about your medical information, all your options, and will be able to ask questions. Your medical history will be reviewed at your appointment. Be aware that certain medications and medical conditions may not allow for a medication abortion.

Things to Bring

  • Government-issued photo ID.
  • A list of all current medications you are taking.
  • Insurance card and payment information.
  • Do you have Medicaid? Please make sure to bring your Medicaid card if interested in birth control coverage.
  • Do you have Commercial Insurance? Please call 412-562-1900 and provide your policy number so your insurance can be approved ahead of time. Bring proof of insurance to your appointment.
  • Do you plan to pay out of pocket? The cost of the procedure out of pocket can range from $435 - $915 based on how far along you are. Payment can be made in cash or credit card with proper ID. If you’d like to find out if you qualify for financial assistance, call 412-562-1900.

PA Abortion Control Act

Pennsylvania law requires that you speak with a doctor before having an abortion. Our patients meet this requirement by speaking with our doctor on a scheduled phone call. You must call into a teleconference to complete this call.

To complete the call: Dial 877-465-1205 at your scheduled start time. Dialing five minutes late will not let you in on the call. The call lasts about 45-60 minutes. You will listen to a speech for about 20 minutes, then you’ll be on hold while the doctor checks in with each patient on the line one by one. Wait until the doctor comes back on the line with you to privately confirm your appointment information. Do not hang up until you speak with the doctor one-on-one; otherwise the call will not be considered complete and your appointment will be canceled.

    Gynecological Care

    • Pap and HPV Tests
    • Breast Exams
    • Screening and treatment for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
      • We will screen you for the most common Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) based on the Center for Disease Detection (CDD) recommendations, including, but not limited to: Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and HIV. A urine or vaginal swab test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea should be done two weeks after possible exposure. Blood testing for Syphilis should be done 30 days after possible exposure, and blood testing for HIV should be done 90 days after possible exposure. We also offer rapid HIV testing, which is done through a finger prick. Screening for other infections may be offered depending on your risk factors. For most accurate urine testing, please do not urinate for one hour before your visit.
      • What is an STI/STD
    • Pregnancy Testing
      • Pregnancy tests are most accurate three (3) weeks after you've had sex. Taking a test earlier than this may give inaccurate results. For more information on pregnancy and your health, click here.

    Preparing for your visit

    Schedule an Appointment

You can access a telehealth appointment with us by calling our phone room at 412-434-8971, or by booking online at any of our individual health center pages.  Telehealth appointments are available at this time for visits to get birth control, emergency contraception, pre-exposure prophylactic medication for HIV prevention (PrEP), hormone therapy, and routine STD screening for people who are symptom-free. If you're not sure if you're having symptoms, we recommend asking the call center if an in-clinic appointment is right for you.

Please note that telehealth appointments are only available for individuals age 13 and up. Due to state licensing requirements, you must be within the state of Pennsylvania at the time of your Telehealth appointment.
