Let's Talk!

October 26, 2020 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Parents want the best for their children and teens. That means helping them with homework, encouraging their hobbies, and … talking about sex and relationships.

During Let’s Talk Month each year, young people and parents are encouraged to communicate with one another about sexuality — including relationships, bodies and body image, reproduction, gender and sexual orientation, sexual behavior, and preventing pregnancy and STDs.

Teens name parents as the biggest influence on their decisions about sex. And teens who talk to their parents about sex are more likely to wait longer to have it, and use condoms and other forms of birth control when they do. It's important for parents to be direct, be specific, and talk often.

In this workshop we will give or tips on talking with teens about sex and sexual health, building strong parent-teen relationships, and setting rules that help keep teens safe and healthy.

Answering Student Questions About Sexuality

September 24, 2020 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

While sexual imagery is everywhere, open conversations about sex are not. It's not surprising that many professionals who work with youth feel uncomfortable when sexual health topics do come up. Learning the best practices for how to talk about sex is the first step to being more comfortable.

In this webinar, educators and youth serving professionals will identify the different categories student questions can fall into, examine the role of values in the sex ed classroom, and use our question answering protocol to respond to real questions posed by real kids!

We hope that by the end of our time together, you feel more confident in your ability to respond to challenging questions!
