Aimee Cunningham

Chair, Planned Parenthood Federation Board of Directors

Aimee Cunningham is a philanthropist, activist, and fundraiser based in Austin, Texas. A graduate of the University of Virginia, Aimee worked as a campus organizer for the Feminist Majority Foundation for three years before returning to Texas and Democratic politics. From 2004 to 2010, Aimee raised money for and supported key legislative candidates, the Texas Democratic Party, and other state-based organizations. From 2011 to 2012, Aimee served as the Vice President of Development for Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas, where she led the affiliate’s fundraising efforts through a significant merger and in the face of major government funding cuts.

In 2014, Aimee founded and chaired Planned Parenthood Texas Votes, the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood in Texas. Working in partnership with the Planned Parenthood affiliates, Aimee helped to build PPTV into a robust, sustainable, and powerful political organization. In 2015, Aimee received the Robbie & Tom Ausley Leadership Award from Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas in recognition of her work on behalf of Planned Parenthood and its patients in Texas.

Today, Aimee continues to work on the politics and policies that impact women and families, particularly around access to sexual and reproductive health care.  She serves on the board of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, where she co-chairs the National Program Support Task Force and the Development Council. She also served as a member of the PPFA Search Committee.

Aimee is the founder of Austin Women Invest to Elect, a political giving circle which she launched in 2017 to elect progressive, pro-choice candidates to Congress and which has raised more than $325,000 for the candidates it supports. Previously, she served as a co-chair of the Wendy Davis for Governor campaign and as a member of both President Obama and Senator Clinton’s National Finance Committees. She also served on the boards of EMILY’s List and the Center for Reproductive Rights, and Annie’s List, a Texas-based political action committee which seeks to elect pro-choice Democratic women to office. Aimee is currently a member of the Boone Family Foundation board.

Aimee and her husband, Ed Cunningham, live in Austin with their four children.
