Statement from Cecile Richards on the Seven-Year Anniversary of Dr. Tiller's Murder

Statement from Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, on the Seven-Year Anniversary of Dr. Tiller's Murder:

"Seven years ago, the health care community lost a cherished provider. For over 30 years, Dr. George Tiller courageously provided critical reproductive health care to women. He continued to provide compassionate care to his patients with dignity through unwarranted scrutiny and circumstance, and his grace under pressure speaks to the content of his character.

"Dr. Tiller’s tragic murder is a reminder of the violent rhetoric, intimidation, and harassment that abortion providers face far too often from opponents of safe and legal abortion.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Tiller family and the women and families across the country who turned to him for the care they needed. Dr. Tiller inspires us today through his practice, his faith, and his unyielding dedication to providing care for those who relied on him."
