I Stand With Planned Parenthood Campaign takes home Best Multi-Platform Campaign and
Best Government and Politics Campaign, among other recognitions

New York, NY - Last night, Planned Parenthood Federation of America took home several wins at the  Shorty Social Good Awards. The #IStandWithPP campaign, which launched in January when the organization was facing congressional and Trump administration attacks that would have prevented patients from accessing care at Planned Parenthood, won in the categories for Best Multi-Platform Campaign and Best Government & Politics Campaign. The campaign was also a finalist in Civic Engagement. Planned Parenthood Federation of America also won a Gold Distinction in Education for the Abortion Pill & In-Clinic Abortion video series. The #IDefy campaign, produced by SS+K and Planned Parenthood, also won a Gold Distinction in Health & Fitness.

As politicians in Congress and in the White House sought to take away affordable, preventive health care at Planned Parenthood that 2.4 million people rely on each year, we fought back.

“The #IStandWithPP campaign harnessed the grassroots energy that ultimately helped to defeat Trumpcare and protect people's access to life-saving care at Planned Parenthood. We thank the Shorty Awards for recognizing the innovation and creativity that went into educating millions of people about what was at stake and how they could take action.

Planned Parenthood is committed to continuing to leverage the creativity and energy of of its staff to find new ways to provide people with the health care and sex ed information they need and the organizing support they want to fight back against attacks that threaten the vital care that our patients rely on.

The Best Multi-Platform Campaign award honors the most effective and creative campaign spanning multiple digital and social platforms. The Best Government & Politics Campaign award recognizes the best use of social media by a political party, politician, government advocacy group or city, state or country government. The Best Civic Engagement award honors a program, project, or initiative that encourages the public to engage in any aspect of the political process.

The #IStandWithPP campaign resulted in:

  • 1,342,319 unique page views to the campaign website (since January 2017 when the site launched)

  • 458,413 joined the fight using the campaign hashtags #StandWithPP and #IStandWithPP (as well as other sub-campaign hashtags such as #TechStandsWithPP)

  • 114,315,182 paid digital, tv and radio impressions (does not include organic reach), resulting in 40,178,991 engagements

  • More than 200,000 phone calls to members of Congress

  • More than 2,200 events across the country, including rallies, petition drops, phone banks, and marches

  • Over one million petition signatures delivered to members of Congress in opposition to "defunding" Planned Parenthood
