Planned Parenthood Stands With Refugees, Muslims, and Immigrants of All Backgrounds & Condemns President Trump’s Executive Order

New York, NY — Planned Parenthood Federation of America condemns the updated executive order signed today that continues the harmful suspension of the refugee program, severely limits refugee entry into the U.S., and imposes nationalization-based restrictions on those seeking to enter the U.S. from six Muslim-majority countries.

Statement from Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America:

“Once again, President Trump’s executive order misses the mark. The White House’s revised executive order signed today again effectively restricts the ability of immigrants and refugees to enter this country based on their country of origin and religious background. This minor update doesn't dismiss the fact that this is still an appalling attack on refugees and Muslims that is just as damaging to communities as the previous policy.

“The Planned Parenthood community is made up of people from all walks of life — consisting of immigrants and refugees of all backgrounds and faith communities, including Muslims.

“Our health centers are proud to provide high-quality care to everyone regardless of faith, country of origin, immigrant or refugee status, or to those who may otherwise have nowhere else to turn for health care.

“These policies are fundamentally flawed, and no amount of rewriting will fix them. We are prepared to stand alongside our partners to fight back against this targeting and discrimination.”
