Planned Parenthood: “We condemn the Trump-Pence administration’s callous attempts to divide our families, our country, and our world.”

NEW YORK, NY — This World Refugee Day and every day, Planned Parenthood stands with refugees, asylum seekers, and all immigrants and their families.

Statement from Latanya Mapp Frett, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Global:

Health has no borders. The Trump-Pence administration has stepped up its attacks on immigrants and refugees in unimaginable ways over the past week, closing America’s doors to survivors of domestic violence and defending the inhumane separation of families. And just yesterday, the administration pulled the U.S. out of the United Nations Human Rights Council – the same international body that has condemned the separation of immigrant families as a human rights violation.

“These un-American policies go against our values, and Planned Parenthood will continue to stand with refugees, asylum seekers, and all immigrants in their quest for a better life. We condemn the administration’s callous attempts to divide our families, our country, and our world.

Continuing its litany of attacks on immigrants, the Trump-Pence administration recently nominated Ronald Mortensen to run the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration. Mortenson was a fellow at Center for Immigration Studies, which the Southern Poverty Law Center has designated as an anti-immigrant hate group. The administration also continues to defend its hateful and discriminatory travel ban, which targets Muslim-majority countries.
