Condemns Trump’s Immigration Principles

WASHINGTON, DC —  Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, issued the following statement on the immigration principles released by the White House last night:

“Last night the administration presented an unreasonable immigration plan that will continue to place the health and well being of far too many immigrant youth at risk. At Planned Parenthood we believe that all people deserve the highest quality of care no matter what  —- no matter who they are, where they live, what their income is, or what their immigration status is. The consequences of being undocumented can contribute to a culture of fear in the immigrant community, and keep too many from seeking the lifesaving care they need.

“Planned Parenthood supports the bipartisan efforts in Congress to immediately pass a clean Dream Act to protect immigrant youth and their families. Now is the time to move forward with legislation that would ensure immigrant youth in this country are able to live a life free from discrimination and the fear of deportation, and have access to health care to control their own destiny.”
