WASHINGTON, DC — Trump’s new executive order on immigrant families would detain immigrant families together rather than separate children from their parents.
Statement from Dawn Laguens Executive Vice President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America:
Detaining entire families is not the solution to the crisis President Trump created when children were being ripped from their parents’ arms at the border — it is a jail sentence. Yes, children belong with their families, but they also belong in safe and healthy environments, not in cages alongside their parents and family members.
“Trump’s policies of separating and detaining families are an egregious attack on immigrant communities. They are an attack on their health care and their ability to live their lives with dignity. Planned Parenthood will continue to stand with all immigrants in their quest for a better life and to fight alongside our partners to ensure families are treated humanely and with the respect they deserve.
