Washington, DC — In response to President Trump’s Education Secretary Betsy DeVos announcing a rollback of Title IX guidance, Planned Parenthood released the following statement from Dana Singiser, vice president of public policy and government affairs at Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

“Survivors of sexual assault deserve an administration that stands behind them, not one that makes it harder for them to seek justice. We must do all we can to combat sexual harassment and violence. This attempt to weaken Title IX’s protections is simply shameful.

“Students should know that despite this malicious announcement, Title IX remains the law; nothing this administration can do will alter the fundamental civil rights of survivors to safety and security on campus. This administration has undermined women’s health and rights at every turn, including implementing an expanded global gag rule, rolling back safeguards for transgender students, threatening DACA recipients, and attempting to block millions from accessing preventive care at Planned Parenthood. Simply put, women’s lives are worse now than they were before Trump took office. Planned Parenthood will continue to fight for women and our patients – no matter what.”
