The guide is an online, interactive resource on the history and current conditions of reproductive health care access in the U.S., the business rationale for health equity, and ways individuals and companies can take action

New York, NY  Today, Planned Parenthood Federation of America and The Female Quotient, a woman-owned business driving visibility and solutions for women and organizations committed to gender equality, launched a new Reproductive Health Equity Guide — a free and interactive online resource to build understanding and support for reproductive and sexual health care and rights for women and all people. It includes information on birth control, menstruation, pregnancy, pregnancy loss, abortion, menopause, sexual and maternal health, and infertility. This guide is a starting point for anyone who wants to understand the health, economic, and social value of reproductive health equity and reproductive rights, and the imperative role that businesses and individuals play in making sure all people can get the care they need.

This guide comes at a critical time for sexual and reproductive rights. The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in June 2022 took away our federal constitutional right to abortion. This deepened a national health crisis and opened the floodgates to allow states across the country to ban abortion and restrict other essential forms of reproductive health care. Now, more than one in three people of reproductive age live in a state where some or all abortion is banned. People who identify as Black, Indigenous, or people of color, young people, and people in rural areas are most harmed by these bans. This comes after women shouldered immense burdens during the COVID-19 pandemic, from an increase in maternal mortality rates to greater employment loss.

The guide includes Planned Parenthood’s leading resources; highlights Planned Parenthood’s thought leadership in partnership with The Female Quotient and business community; and provides information on reproductive rights partners and the collective movement toward health equity.

Statement from Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America:

"Right now, we need more access to health care, not less. We need to let people know how they can make a difference — for themselves and for the communities where they work and live.  Everyone — including businesses — needs to step up their support for equitable access to essential sexual and reproductive health care. Planned Parenthood and The Female Quotient’s new guide for the business community is a starting point for individuals, employees, and business leaders to learn how they can get involved and take action today.”

Statement from Nadia Khamis, director of corporate engagement at Planned Parenthood Federation of America:

“This guide is a must-see for anyone in the workforce or who leads a business to better understand the human, moral, and economic value in proactively supporting sexual and reproductive health care access. The guide provides a clear set of actions people can take to advance purposeful change in support of health equity — for themselves, for their workforce and business, and for their community. We are excited to announce this new guide, produced with The Female Quotient, to showcase how business leaders, employee groups, and individuals can get involved in protecting and restoring sexual and reproductive health care access and rights.”

Statement from Ronda Carnegie, chief innovation officer at The Female Quotient:

“Reproductive rights are human rights, and we all have a role to play in protecting and promoting health equity for all women. With this guide, we continue our strong collaboration with Planned Parenthood to inform, inspire and activate real solutions for change.”
