Washington, D.C. - UNSTOPPABLE, a campaign focused on equality for all, is releasing a new video that brings to life the UNSTOPPABLE Manifesto under the resounding message of uniting to build a movement for equality for all.
The UNSTOPPABLE Manifesto video features Sia’s song, “Unstoppable,” as well as activists and artists from ages eight to 92 — including Cindi Leive, Ruchira Gupta, Gloria Miguel, and Debbie Millman — with support from Elizabeth Banks, Mayim Bialik, Tiffany Boone, Laura Harrier, Felicity Huffman, Allison Janney, Padma Lakshmi, Marlee Matlin, Alysia Reiner, Alia Shawkat, Analeigh Tipton and Tamara Tunie.
Statement from Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President, Planned Parenthood Action Fund:
The UNSTOPPABLE Manifesto video is a rallying call for people to join the movement and build the world we want to see — where everyone has the freedom and opportunity to control their own bodies and their own futures — regardless of race, gender, income, zip code, or immigration status. There is unprecedented energy and momentum to unite around full equality for all — and women are leading the way. One of us can be dismissed, two of us can be ignored. But, together, we are a movement, and we are unstoppable.
Planned Parenthood launched the UNSTOPPABLE campaign to capture and reflect the energy of people speaking out for the fundamental values of equality. UNSTOPPABLE is rooted in the foundational fact that sexual and reproductive health are critical to achieving full equality, and connects the dots to equal pay, sexual violence prevention, and paid family leave — essential issues for all people to make progress in this country.
UNSTOPPABLE also incorporates the work of a wide range of partners — including Alianza Nacional de Campesinas, Me Too / Time’s Up, National Center for Transgender Equality, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National LGBTQ Task Force, RAINN SisterSong, and many more leaders in this movement.
UNSTOPPABLE ART, a key element of the campaign is an initiative that engages artists to create compelling visual pieces, writings and videos to raise awareness about the foundational role that sexual and reproductive health play in achieving full equality. The artist and activist Tanya Selvaratnam is the executive producer for UNSTOPPABLE ART.
The UNSTOPPABLE Manifesto Video, produced and directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Tiffany Shlain, is the newest UNSTOPPABLE ART piece.
Statement from Tiffany Shlain:
In my early 20’s, I had an abortion. I was not ready in any way to become a mother. I was incredibly grateful to be able to receive a safe abortion, start my career and then later, meet my husband, who I have been married to for 20 years, and to have children when I was ready. I have continued to care deeply about the fundamental right to be able to control my own body and my own future and want to protect this right for my daughters and all women. I’m honored and proud to work with UNSTOPPABLE ART and channel my passion towards the fundamental value of equality in a creative way.
Additional artwork can be found at UNSTOPPABLE ART, including the video, “Together, We are Unstoppable” produced by Tanya Selvaratnam and featuring the song “Quiet” by MILCK; Pink Uterusby Zoe Buckman; and Democracy by Carrie Mae Weems.
