PPINK disappointed by cancellation of Chili's fundraiser promotion
For Immediate Release: Jan. 27, 2017
INDIANAPOLIS – Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky (PPINK) is disappointed in the unexpected cancellation of a fundraising partnership with Chili's Bar and Grill.
The restaurant chain approached PPINK as part of the Chili's Give Back Program, which gives diners the option of donating a portion of their bill to a featured nonprofit organization. Chili's offered to run the PPINK promotion in all Chili's locations across Indiana and Kentucky from Jan. 1 to March 31, 2017. Under the terms of the promotion, guests who showed a flyer would have 15 percent of their pre-tax bill donated to PPINK.
On Jan. 25, anti-abortion activists attacked the promotion by spreading lies about PPINK and the nature of the fundraiser.
On Jan. 26, after being bullied by extremists, Chili's Bar and Grill leadership chose to back out of the promotion despite a strong showing for the fundraiser.
PPINK thanks the numerous supporters who participated in the program, and encourages engagement in PPINK's other activities and events.
