Marv Russell, chief human resource officer of PPFA and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, joined in April 2013. In a remarkably diverse and successful career encompassing multiple industries and continents, Russell has distinguished himself as an internationalist and a multilingual and multicultural professional; he has lived abroad for eight years, working with multinational companies. His career has spanned state and federal government, heavy industry, materials and packaging, and pharmaceuticals and health care.
Mr. Russell was born and raised in Ford City, PA, and was a renowned athlete for the Sabers, excelling in football, basketball, and track. He was a successful student-athlete at Notre Dame. A middle linebacker, he was a member of the university’s 1973 National Championship Team. He completed a master’s degree in Public Administration at Indiana University and is currently completing his PhD in Business, Technology and Leadership.
Mr. Russell is a leadership consultant, motivational speaker, and workshop facilitator who has engaged audiences in both the U.S. and Europe. In addition to his corporate and not-for-profit experience, he has worked in a leadership capacity for state and local government. Mr. Russell has engaged business professionals, athletic organizations, adolescent groups, religious audiences, and nonprofit community-based and government organizations.
He is the author of two books: Finding Your Internship: What Employers Want You to Know and Linebacker in the Boardroom: Lessons in Life and Leadership.
